Day-85
Spain! We are staying in a nice little cozy apartment, on the boarder of a little town called, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, on the coast of the Mediterranean. It is located about a one hour drive north of Barcelona. We left the apartment this morning around 9am to go and explore the food markets, and clothing markets.
As we were walking along we had to watch our step for dog dirt. :P Once we got to the market area people were EVERYWHERE! We bought a big bag of oranges, some carrots, lettuce, potatoes, cucumbers, and cherries. After browsing the fruit and vegetable area, we headed to the beach where there were venders of anything you could think of; clothes, jewelry, bags of all kinds, cookware, etc.
Editor’s note. Here in Spain, more specifically, Catalonia, we were seeing an odd Christmas figure in the Spanish Christmas markets and other stores including in southern France and maybe even into Italy a bit. It was a piece of firewood with legs and a smiley face on one end and a red hat. We now know this is called the Tió de Nadal from this article. Truly odd indeed and almost disturbing.
The first vender we came to was all boys clothing. Jack needed some new pants, and Landon then could have Jack’s outgrown ones. Dad, found a stand that was selling backpacks that looked like owls. They were really cute, with there different color feathers, and the big eyes.
When we had had a enough of the busyness, we headed back to the house to enjoy a lunch of oranges, and sandwiches. In the afternoon Mom, Jack, Bria, Landon, and I headed back down to the beach to play in the sand and dig in the sand for seashells. Jack, Bria, and Landon tried crabbing but did not catch anything, they then started digging a huge hole, and playing on the rocks. Mom and I sat on the sand and looked for seashells but mostly for sea glass. It was hard to find the sea glass, but we managed to find enough to fill up a little vanilla jar.
The sun on the sand was warm, and it felt good to take off our jackets. We also had to be careful about dog dirt in the sand. There were signs saying NO DOGS ALLOWED, but no one bothered to pay attention to them, they just left their dogs run on the sand anyway.
As the sun began to set, we left the beach and walked back home again to make dinner. After dinner we listened to christmas music and Dad read us a story before bed.
PS: This is December 6th post.
