The northern lights
Last fall, we visited some friends who had just came back from Iceland. During the visit they told us about the northern lights and showed us a video about them. When I learned we were going to Iceland this summer, I sorta hoped we would get a chance to see them.
Two nights ago, 15 minutes after we had gone to bed, Mom tapped on the door and came in. Mom said "Guys, the northern lights!!!" I jumped up, grabbed my sweatshirt and ran outside. I never even put my shoes on!
To the right of our house, there was a big circle of light. After looking at it, I saw it went across the sky and ended at the left. It was line across the sky that was fat and greenish. Mom told me to go in and put on shoes, so I did.
When I came out again, I realized that they were moving. It looked like the wind was blowing them starting on the left and rippling to the right.
After I came in to go to bed, I looked out the window. I could see the edges looked a bit pinkish. The whole entire scene had changed. To the left, there was nothing. To the right, there was now only a little bit. And it wasn't like a line anymore it was a blotch of greenish light. Changing shape from a blotch to a fat line, sometimes a long time before rippling back into the other. It was amazing I'll never forget it.
